WOW... ABSOLUTELY EPIC!
We loved hosting our first ever public event at Tempest Running Club today! Everyone looked fabulous in their festive gear and the atmosphere was just great! Lots of money has been raised for local charities, and we will reveal the grand total very soon!
Now it's time to say a huge thank you to a long list of people and organisations who helped to make the Seaham Santa Run such a great success!
Our Event Committee for organising everything in the months leading up to and during the event including the logistics of the day, sourcing funding and refreshment donations, music and entertainment, and all the other important things that need to be done behind the scenes.
The Tempest runners and guest runners for taking part and making such a great effort with their outfits!
The Senior Tempest marshals and Scout marshals from Dawdon 2nd Seaham Scouts Group ensuring safe routes for our runners.
Disco Events North East with David Gibson and Amelia for bringing the atmosphere in music and special attention to detail. Nothing is too much trouble for these guys!
Seaham Town Council, Margaret Levitt and Barry Taylor for allowing us to host the run as well as generous funding towards the event and chocolate treat donations.
Asda Seaham and Greggs for kind donations of refreshments including tea, coffee, water and mince pies.
Seaham Trinity Primary School Choir for their beautiful carol singing.
Sarah Bainbridge for awesome graphic design including a banner, cards and stickers.
The Navy Club for opening their doors early to allow us to use their facilities.
Paul Levitt for the professional photography.
The dancing and jingle bell jingling Santa Claus and Mrs Claus entertainers on route and at the finish line to give out finishers gifts.
Gareth and team from T9 Medical Ltd
Harry Matthews Event Adjudicator from England Athletics
The spectators for cheering all of our runners on.
The public of Seaham for kind donations.

Today we were honoured to support one of our runners, Nigel Westwood, with his #getthegoattolondon charity event, raising money for his London Marathon target. The challenge was to walk, jog or run up to 5 x 5K laps to represent 25 years working as Drug Supply Manager at Cancer Research UK.
Nigel has been involved in clinical trials for drugs such as Rucaparib and Zytiga which have since reached the market. He continues to do vital work for this amazing cause.
As always, Tempest runners turned up with plenty of support, determination and of course, incredible generosity. Thank you for allowing us to be part of it Nigel, no doubt you will smash your fund raising target and the London Marathon in April 2026!

At Tempest RC we love our regular team challenges, which keep us motivated during cold November nights, allow us to have a friendly competition where everyone is on a level playing field, or add a bit of fun into our running.
Go check out Sophie Roberts, letting everyone know what the club's been up to for the November Nightlights Team Challenge x

Yesterday marked International Men's Day, where we celebrate the positive contributions men give to our community. It is a chance for us to highlight positive male role models and raise awareness of men’s well-being.
At Tempest Running Club, we aim to make a positive difference to the well-being and lives of our male members.
Tonight we braved to cold and ran to raise awareness for the Movember Movement and to celebrate all of our amazing men in the group.
We were lucky enough to hear some positive stories from two of our members, Dan and Simon, who kindly shared how running and the running club family have helped their well-being since joining. Thank you to Dan and Simon for inspiring us and thank you to everyone for coming along to support.
Cheers to all of our great guys here at Tempest! You make our club a better place to be xxx

Tempest RC took to the road for the York 10 mile race, which has become a firm favourite in our calendar over the last few years. Some smashing performances were no doubt fuelled by the homemade pies on the party bus! (you didn't think that people went just for the running, did you?)
